Organizing a quiz or trivia night can be daunting task. The first time is always the hardest though, once you have successfully organized a couple of quiz nights it will be smooth sailing. There are some useful tips and tricks that it's worth knowing from the start though.

Firstly, if you've never run a quiz or trivia night before make sure you do a trial run with friends and family. Pretend it's the real quiz night and pay close attention to any problems that crop up. It will be tempting to joke around and not take the trial quiz seriously. It will be to your advantage to take it as seriously as possible and pretend that there are fifty strangers involved not just a couple of friends and family members.

This trial run will soon show you where your process is falling down. Did it take too long to work out the scores? Were you asking the questions too quickly? What type of questions did people like and dislike? A trial run can help a great deal.

For the night itself make sure you get a couple more helpers than you think you will need. The more teams participating the more scorers and helpers you need. You may have someone assigned to read out the questions and someone else assigned to score the answer sheets and create a leader board.

On the night unexpected things will come up. Perhaps someone will need to dash out of the room to fetch something, maybe one of your helpers will be called away for family reasons. Making sure there are a couple of extra people assigned as helpers can be a life saver.

Running a quiz night is little bit of a performance, you are presenting and organizing a large group. Even if there are problems or you are confused, stay calm and make decisions and people will be supportive.

Think about preparing some extra trivia questions to use as tie breakers. If at the end of the create quiz multiple teams are on the same score it's helpful to have a batch of extra questions you can use to separate the teams. You don't need to ask these tie breaker questions to the entire audience. You can say something like "The blue team and the yellow team are both on 50 points so they will compete in a tie breaker question. The first team to raise their hand will have the first opportunity to answer."

The Young Teacher's Guide To Using The Quiz As A Teaching Strategy

In recent years, there has been much discussion in the outside community that students are leaving school with less knowledge than their parents. There have been calls to return to the old ways of teaching which would include the use of a class quiz from time to time. However, what parents and others have forgotten is that, right from primary school, students are now exposed to a greater number of learning areas than the old 'Three Rs'.

Consequently, the students have less time on the traditional subjects than was the case in years gone by. Thus, we teachers still need to look for efficient ways to ensure students get all the necessary essential learning so that they are ready to enter the real world at school's end.

Syllabus writers have tried to counter this loss of subject time by reducing content and therefore encouraging teachers to concentrate on teaching for understanding rather than for a body of facts. However, there is still, as ever, a need for students to know basic facts on which to build their learning and to have an understanding of the language of the subject area they study. The create quiz is an effective way to enhance this learning and understanding.

The strengths of a quiz are many.

1. They are time efficient. They can be as little as 5 minutes long or as long as 15 minutes.
2. The teacher can create a quiz for each topic, of questions that are often done poorly by students.

4. The teachers can ask students as a homework exercise to write quiz questions on the topic which they find difficult. • learning through competition
• more self confidence

In addition, a quiz can be used:

• as a revision lesson (part or all of one).
• as a review of a topic before the teacher begins a new lesson.

• as a development lesson into a new topic, i.e. questions are used to develop new ideas in a subject area by using students' own personal experiences.
• as a diagnostic test.
• to develop a better understanding of a subject's language.
• to develop better communication skills in subjects.
• to allow the teacher to find areas of learning where he/she needs to revisit.

In conclusion, there are many types of quizzes. In my early career, after a year teaching in a primary school, I taught a variety of high school subjects in Years Eight to Ten including Maths, Science, English, History and Geography. These gave me many opportunities to use the quiz as a teaching strategy. What it also taught me is that the quiz is an effective teaching and learning tool across all subject areas from lower primary school classes up to junior high school.

How to Create a Great Quiz Night

If you love getting together with friends and family for game nights, but find you are growing tired of the usual board game selection, consider creating your own quiz night, inspired by pub quizzes and trivia nights. This is a fun game that anyone can play and show off his knowledge of subjects including history, sports, pop culture, movies, literature, and more.

First, decide on someone who will be the 'quiz master' or game leader. This is a person who creates the questions, looks up the answers to make sure they are accurate and who is in charge of the organization of the game as well as the scoring. It is important that this person does not participate in the actual game because, having come up with the quiz night questions theirself, they is privy the answers.

Once the 'quiz master' is selected, they will decide which categories will be covered. The best quiz nights use a variety of questions from many different categories and fields of interest, rather than just a select few. It is a good idea for the players to tell the create quiz leader what subjects interest them the most or which subjects they have the most knowledge in, so they can create questions to suite the people who will be participating. Though the number of categories is variable, usually a game with five to six categories, each category comprising one round works best.

Traditional categories such as history and science are always good choices, but some non-traditional categories can be fun as well. One fun category is called 'Name that Person.' For this round, the quiz master projects childhood pictures of celebrities, politicians, or other sports stars, which can be found with a simple image search" on the internet, and the players must guess who the person is. Another round, called 'Guess that Song,' is created by playing two to three second clips from songs and having the players guess what song it is. They must write the correct song title and recording artist to get credit.

After the quiz master has decided which categories they will select questions from, they should write each category title on a piece of paper and create 10-15 quiz questions for each one. These questions should vary in difficulty level, so that some are easy to answer, even if the player is not an expert in the field, and others are much more difficult and require special knowledge. If the category is something such as history or sports, which span over large periods of time, make sure to use questions from all different time periods rather than just a few. The game leader should not show anyone the questions. They are also in charge of looking up the answers to make sure the correct one is written down. The quiz master can use already-created questions from trivia games such as Trivial Pursuit or he can create his own questions and look up the answers in reliable sources.

Once all of the trivia questions are created, you and your friends are ready for a great quiz night. The players can be divided into teams or play individually. This depends on how many players there are, but usually, three to five teams works best. Each team is given a sheet of paper. The team is responsible for labeling the round number and the question number. The leader begins by announcing the first category, which will consist of the questions for round #1. They must read the quiz questions slowly and clearly and is allowed to repeat the question once if asked by one of the players. They should always be clear what the number of the question is so each team can write the answer next to the corresponding number.

After all the rounds have been completed, the leader collects all of the answer cards and adds up the number of correct answers. The team with the most correct answers wins! If there is a tie, the leader can create a 'sudden death' round, in which the teams with the same number of points go head-to-head to answer questions (on any topic). The first team to incorrectly answer a question loses and the other team is crowned the winner of quiz night!

Is There a Best Answer For Every Relationship Profiling Quiz?

Associated Press photographer, Eddie Adams, won a Pulitzer Prize for a photo that led millions of Americans to assume that a sadistic tyrant killed an innocent man. This photo turned the tide on the support for the Vietnam War.

More importantly, it also led to one noble man's life being ruined by false impressions that were created by a slice of time.

A photo is essentially a slice in time, and that can capture a beautiful moment or a terrible moment. It does not say anything about the past or anything about the future. I am sure Adolf Hitler had very sweet baby photos, just as all babies do. On the other hand, I am sure you can find a photo of Mother Theresa frowning - would we then think less of her?

In our relationships, we take a lot of photos both with our digital cameras and with our mind's camera. Sometimes the photo does not really show the truth that lies beneath, just like what Eddie Adams had to say about his own photo:

That was a pretty clear answer to me - depends on who can swim better.

Apparently, that answer was not what my friend had in mind. I was supposed to say either my mother of my girlfriend, and that was supposed to categorise me into a particular group of people.

A hypothetical scenario is the same like a photo. It stands alone, unreal, with no appreciation of the past nor any regard for the future. A google search will pull up thousands of relationship based profiling quizzes all over the internet.

How do I choose without knowing whether the five persons may be convicted murderers on death row and the one person is a highly skilled surgeon who has saved many lives and will continue to do so in the future?

Relationship profiling quizzes and photographs are all instantaneous snapshots of the moment in a relationship. I was just watching an episode of The Simpsons and Homer thought that Marge was having an affair because he saw a snapshot of her meeting up covertly with the local beer salesman. He got depressed and committed suicide. At that precise moment, a mysterious force gave him the ability to see beyond the snapshot and he saw that Marge was actually planning a surprise party for him!

Have you been doing silly things in your relationship because you thought that your partner purposely wanted to hurt you?
